An Arizona man has been sentenced to over 11 years in federal prison for sexually abusing a minor, according to an announcement from First Assistant U.S. Attorney Ryan Ellison and Justin A. Garris, Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Albuquerque Field Office.
In August 2021, Fernando Yatsatie, Jr., 48, a member of the Zuni Pueblo, engaged in a sexual act with a minor using threats and intimidation. Yatsatie pleaded guilty to sexual abuse charges.
After serving his prison sentence, Yatsatie will be under supervised release for fifteen years and is required to register as a sex offender. There is no parole in the federal system.
The investigation was conducted by the Gallup Resident Agency of the FBI Albuquerque Field Office with assistance from the Zuni Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Nicholas J. Marshall is prosecuting the case.
