A Farmington man, Myles Cordelle Dan Padilla, pleaded guilty on Apr. 13 to a federal firearms offense related to an armed carjacking that took place in April 2022.
Padilla, age 34, admitted in federal court that he took a vehicle from another individual by force while using a firearm on April 10, 2022. As someone with a prior felony conviction, Padilla was not legally allowed to possess firearms or ammunition at the time of the incident.
He pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm and now faces up to fifteen years in prison when sentenced.
The announcement was made by First Assistant U.S. Attorney Ryan Ellison and Justin A. Garris, Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Albuquerque Field Office. The case was investigated by the Farmington Resident Agency of the FBI Albuquerque Field Office with support from the Navajo Nation Police Department and Navajo Department of Criminal Investigations. Assistant U.S. Attorney Mark A. Probasco is prosecuting the case.
Sentencing for Padilla has not yet been scheduled.
